BIOGRAPHY
Born on the island of Cyprus, in 1997, Eleni Charalambous is a Greek-Cypriot soprano of Armenian heritage who began her musical studies at the age of five, learning the piano. While pursuing an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences in the United Kingdom, her artistic inclinations let her to shift paths and study vocal performance at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance of London. She further honed her skills in Rome under the mentorship of baritone Romualdo Savastano. Currently based in Cologne, Germany, Eleni is actively pursuing her performing career across Europe.
She has performed at prestigious venues and festivals including Vienna´s Musikverein and the Villa Medici in Rome. She was a semifinalist at the Spoleto Competition in 2023 and a finalist in the Cyprophonia Young Artist Competition in 2024, conducted by Charles Olivieri Munroe. In April 2025 she performed in Rossini´s Stabat Mater with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Daniel Raiskin. In September 2025 she made her debut in the role of Micaela in G. Bizet´s Carmen at the Teatro Savoia in Italy. Her forthcoming engagements include an appearance at Vienna´s Musikverein in November 2025.
Her biggest inspiration are her roots, ranging from Greece to Armenia, Iran and Egypt and her home country, Cyprus, an island in the Mediterranean Sea. Cyprus has always stood as a cultural, linguistic and historic crossroad between these three continents. Growing up in a place with such cultural richness and with a multicultural background, Eleni was given the opportunity and privilege to explore different types of traditional music.
